Help re-shape the way career organisations support LGBTI carers.

Do you look after a family member, partner or friend who has a disability, mental illness, chronic/terminal illness, or who is frail aged? If so, then you’re a carer, and you’re one of 2.7 million Australians who provides informal, unpaid care to a loved one.

Research has shown that LGBTI people who are carers are often unwilling to seek support from service providers for fear of discrimination.

With this in mind, Carers Queensland, Queensland’s peak body for carers, is aiming to find out more about the LGBTI community’s experience of accessing social and health support services.

The organisation has published an online survey and is inviting people from the LGBTI community to share their thoughts and opinions.

Carers Queensland is currently working towards achieving the Rainbow Tick accreditation to be seen as a safe and culturally appropriate provider for the LGBTI carer community.

Feedback from the survey will be used to re-shape the way carer organisations support LGBTI carers.
