This new project will aim to bring together LGBTQI singers keen to travel to places where queer choirs are rarely heard.
The success of Sydney Gay & Lesbian Choir, following their 2014 tour to Finland, Estonia, and Latvia, inspired Sarah and Melanie Penicka-Smith to form the Pacific Pride Choir (PPC).
LGBTQI singers are invited to help break new ground once again in Europe in 2017 as part of the choir, which aims to take music and messages to places where it is rarely heard, if at all.
The PPC was created to improve the visibility and acceptance of LGBTQI people in countries where homosexuality is legalised but not fully recognised.
The PPC trip will consist of rehearsals in Berlin, before travelling to Poland where concerts will be performed in and around Krakow and Warsaw in July 2017.
PPC will sing songs of acceptance and inclusion and will nurture and amplify the sounds of local LGBTQI singers and networks.
This occasional touring choir is open to any member of the LGBTQI community and to allies.
