This all-female cast will take you on a wild ride!
The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant by Rainer Werner Fassbinder is set to be presented by the Old Fitz Theatre starting October 11.
Perhaps better known as a daring German classic cult film, this performance is an analysis of the feminine psyche and a brilliant exercise in melodrama.
The performance follows fashion’s latest success, Petra Von Kant. Her divorce is done, she’s as hot as she’s ever been, and life is fantastic. Petra’s obsessive PA does everything for her, her mother’s about to bugger off on a six-month holiday and her daughter has been sent off to boarding school. Even old friends can’t bring her down.
But then she meets Karin…
Directed by Shane Bosher, this all-female cast includes A Place to Call Home’s Sara Wiseman as Petra with support from Taylor Ferguson, Matilda Ridgway, Eloise Snape, Judith Gibson, and Mia Evan Rorris.
Bosher says, “I’ve wanted to direct The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant since I saw Fassbinder’s film as a plucky young drama school student.
“It’s a glorious melodic drama which talks about the ways we can let ourselves be destroyed by love and desire. I’m thrilled to be working with a kickass all-women ensemble led by ferocious talent Sara Wiseman. It’s startling, sexy and viciously funny.”
Presented by MopHead Productions in association with Red Line Productions, The Bitter Tears of Petra Von Kant is a wild ride that you won’t want to miss.
