Follow the story of a lesbian couple from their first date to their wedding day.
‘We Will’ follows the story of a lesbian couple; from their first date, their first awkward kiss, up until their wedding day.
This short film is about the normality of same-sex relationships. It tells the story of Claire (Bianca Bradey) and Rachel (Madeleine Withington) are just like any other couple. The love that they share is the same as anyone else’s. They deserve a special day to proclaim their love, not just amongst friends and family, but as equals under the law.
We Will was shot in two days on a $200 budget. The filmmakers were touched by the community support they received and noted that business owners allowed them to film on their premises free of charge once they were told the film was about marriage equality.
Director Laura Nagy said, “The thing that was really nice was as soon as I told anyone about it they were so excited and so willing to jump on board. Because everyone cares so much about the issue. Everyone donated all their time, everyone worked on it for free because they’re so passionate about marriage equality.”
She has also stated that the film was created to “revive the stagnant debate” Australia is having on whether same-sex marriage should be legalised.
Nagy hopes to create more films to fit into the ‘We Will’ series. She added “Love is love no matter who you are. No matter what your gender is, it’s just the same and everyone should have the right to celebrate their love with the same legalities as everyone else.”
