The concerts feature choral works of celebration and reflection that will enchant and inspire, including the music of Arvo Pärt, Ola Gjeilo, Kim Andre Arnesen, Benjamin Britten and more.
SGLC President Liz Eglington said the eclectic choice of repertoire for the ‘Wish You Were Here’ concert highlights the versatility of the Sydney Gay & Lesbian Choir.
“Our audience will come on a journey from the sacred to the ironic in a complete celebration of the holiday season and family get togethers. We invite you to come along and join our family gathering to celebrate the season.”
SGLC Music Director Adam Majsay is excited to share this program with audiences.
“The choir continuously raises the bar, musically-speaking, performing challenging and exciting music that shows that though we’re a non-auditioned choir, we are able to maintain the highest musical standards.
What’s great about SGLC is that we do this all within a culture of fun and inclusivity – where all are welcome to come along and sing, and all are sure to have a great time doing it!”.
Sydney Gay & Lesbian Choir has been breaking out into song and breaking down barriers with its uplifting and inclusive approach to choral music since its inception. As one of Australia’s most popular community choirs with over 80 active singing members, it welcomes singers without audition and regardless of their sexuality, gender identity or music experience.
