Silke Bader has been nominated for the 2015 Honour Awards
The 2015 Honour Award finalists have been announced. Appearing on the Community Hero list is LOTL’s own Silke Bader.
The Honour Awards celebrate and recognise outstanding achievement and service within New South Wales’ LGBTI community. Now in its ninth year, the 30 finalists were chosen from a list of 250 nominations.
Silke is a prominent, successful, and stable business icon within the LGBTI community. She has successfully been running LOTL for the last 15 years and acquired America’s most well known lesbian publication Curve Magazine in 2010.
As well as running these two publications, Silke is the founding director of Zambi Wildlife Retreat, a not-for-profit animal welfare charity. Founded in 2012, LOTL Rescue helps to provide rehabilitation and emergency rescue for all animals, focusing on retired circus and zoo animals.
ACON CEO Nicolas Parkhill said “The judging panel noted that selecting the finalists was a difficult process because the achievements and contributions of all the nominees were remarkable in their own way. However, the judges agreed that the finalists they selected exhibited a truly outstanding commitment to supporting the LGBTI community and deserved to be recognised for their efforts.”
