Out for Australia, a leading national LGBTQI charity, is holding a fundraising evening hosted by Professor the Honourable Dame Marie Bashir AD CVO and special guest Paul Zahra on November 27 2015. Out for Australia provides a mentorship program to professionals and students across Australia and works to eliminate the anxieties LGBTQI students face when transitioning from university to the workplace.

To achieve this Out for Australia acknowledges the importance of role models in empowering young LGBTQI people in all professions and industries, and as such, two awards will be presented at the fundraising event:

Proposed use of funds:

Out for Australia is fundraising to allow the organisation to provide a series of unsponsored, smaller events including:

• Student-only workshops on topics including professional development, mentorship and LGBTQI issues in the workplace;

• Specialty women’s events to discuss issues faced by LGBTQI women in the workplace;

• Regional and rural events to expand Out for Australia’s presence from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth to regional areas of NSW, Victoria, Queensland and Western Australia;

• Community events to provide networking opportunities for LGBTQI professionals and students in a more casual environment.

A request for prizes: Out for Australia is hoping to drive fundraising efforts through the charity auction and raffle to be held on the evening and is currently seeking donations for these. All donors will be publicised and recognised on the evening for their generosity.
