This Sunday the Fair Day Sports Village will be alive with the Darwin Outgames stall full of fun, prizes, information and opportunities for registration.
The Outgames brings together lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex peoples from around the world for a celebration of sport, culture and human rights. This year sees the Asia Pacific Outgames hosted in Darwin NT from 10 -16 May.
Fair Day is a landmark event in the LGBTI calendar, an opportunity to take part in and with the community. “It’s a wonderful opportunity for the Outgames to get the message out about this great event coming up in Darwin,” said Olli Berst, Chair of the Outgames Board. “The Outgames is a truly unique event only held once every three years and Darwin a must-see destination,” he said.
Mardi Gras Fair Day will be hosting its very own Sochi Winter Olympics Pride House right next door. This Sunday register your opposition to the serious human rights abuses against LGBTI people going on in Russia right now by participating in the Same-Sex Hand-Holding initiative.
The impact of human rights abuses for LGBTI people will be the focus of the “Power Through Action” Forum. Global reports remind us of the fear and terror that people live with every day. The Forum will be a call to action and a coming together of the diverse LGBTI community on these issues.
The 3rd Asia Pacific Outgames Human Rights Forum “Power Through Action” will be held in Darwin from 14 -16 May 2014 at DoubleTree by Hilton. Early bird registrations are open until 14th February 2014 at www.darwinoutgames.com.au
Mardi Gras Fair Day will be held at Victoria Park, Cnr of City Rd and Parramatta Rd, Sunday 9 February.
