On December 1, 2010 the first World AIDS Day Dinner (WADD) charity dinner will take place at Sydney, Australia’s Royal Randwick Race Course.

A glamorous evening affair, the charity dinner will largely benefit Australia’s longest-running HIV charity, The Bobby Goldsmith Foundation with a portion of the proceeds from the live auction going to St. Vincent’s Hospital Patient Support Fund.

The evening’s festivities will include a live auction of beautiful donated pieces. Among the prestige brands represented are Pearl Autore, DACOU Aboriginal Art, the Homes a Court Gallery, Wakaya Club & Spa, Fiji, Palazzo Versace, and Annie Leibovitz.

The auction will be conducted by Andrew Shapiro from Shapiro Auctioneers.

Guests will enjoy a delicious three course meal will be prepared by three of Australia’s most famous and renowned chefs.

The mouth watering menu will be created by Peter Evans, host of Channel 7’s popular show My Kitchen Rules and co-creator of Hugo’s Group which includes several famed eateries in both Sydney and Melbourne, Tony Bilson, owner and chef patron of Sydney’s Bilson’s restaurant at the Radisson Plaza Hotel, and Adriano Zumbo of Adriano Zumbo Patissiere.

The magical night will also include exciting live performances by notable acts including The Bangarra Dance Theatre, the Channel Ten hit show, So You Think You Can Dance Australia, Aerilize and a special performance by Australian pop icon Wendy Matthews.

The guest speakers are some of Australia’s leading experts in the field of HIV including Levinia Crooks AM, Chief Executive Officer, Australasian Society for HIV Medicine, Bev Lange, CEO Bobby Goldsmith Foundation, Sharon R Lewin, FRACP, PhD Director, Infectious Diseases Unit, Alfred Hospital; Professor, Department of Medicine, Monash University; Co-head, Centre for Virology, Burnet Institute and Malcolm Leech, President of Positive Life NSW (an advocacy and health promotion organisation for people living with HIV in NSW) and a two year board member of the Board of the Bobby Goldsmith Foundation.

The main beneficiary of the WADD proceeds in 2010 will be The Bobby Goldsmith Foundation (BGF).  BGF is the longest-running HIV charity in Australia.

For 26 years, it has provided practical, emotional and financial support to people living with HIV in New South Wales so they can maintain their independence and improve their quality of life.

It is the kind of ongoing and unconditional support that usually only friends and family would provide.
