New time and venue for Mardi Gras Policing Forum.
The Sydney Mardi Gras Policing Forum was scheduled to be held today at the at the Police Auditorium in Surry Hills, however due to an overwhelming amount of interest to attend the forum will now be held on Tuesday 19 March at the NSW Teachers Federation Conference Centre in Surry Hills. The event will begin at 7pm.
In attendance will be Sydney MP Alex Greenwich and representatives from a range of LGBTQI organisations including Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, ACON, the Gay and Lesbian Rights Lobby and the Inner City Legal Centre.
The most important matter here Alex Greenwich states is that as many people as possible are able to attend the forum to get their voices heard.
“The response we’ve had to the forum so far clearly indicates that this is an issue which affects many people in our community,” Mr Greenwich said. “The new venue is significantly bigger and we look forward to welcoming a lot more people to have a civil and constructive dialogue with the police and community representatives who will be attending the event.”
This forum will be a platform for members of the community to express their police related experiences at Mardi Gras directly with senior police and LGBTQI community leaders.
A registration process has been set up for the rescheduled event to ensure that as many people as possible who want to attend the forum get the opportunity to reserve a place. Registrants can choose to be anonymous.
