Benstix will shortly be heading over to Antwerp for the OutGames to compete against international hockey teams including the Netherlands, New Zealand and the London Royals.
Bentstix president David Kyles is quite confident about the team’s ability to maintain its title “Having retained the Gay Games and OutGames Title since losing the final at the Gay Games in Sydney, we will once again be defending our title as Pink Hockey World Champions at this years OutGames in Antwerp, Belgium. We will be sending one of our strongest teams yet and are currently recruiting experienced players, to help bring our title back home with us”
2012 was a very exciting year for the club which saw the rise of the first Bentsix Women’s Team, playing their first-ever season of competition.
“This year we have seen a significant increase in the number men and women registered to play hockey with us. There are those who are keen to help win the clubs first Division Title and there are those who are getting into sport for the first or wanting a more social game.” said Kyles.
Recruiting for the 2013 season is underway. Bentstix is welcoming old and new players from whatever hockey or sporting background. Of the nature of the club, Kylies says “It is a place where you can have some fun, get fit, and make lifelong friends in the process.”
