That feeling when your hair gets in the way – no more!
I don’t necessarily like to work out. But I do it. The thing is I have to be comfortable and I don’t mind if I look good as well.
I can be a bit particular about the shoes and clothes I wear not because I’m being high maintenance but because if I’m annoyed with how I feel in my gear, you can be sure I won’t last long working out.
My hair can be a particular pain in my backside. Yes, I know I could cut it. But that’s not going to happen any time soon. So that means keeping my hair seriously off my face.
I’ve tried a zillion bands and clips and either they poke the heck out of me, look crazy, or get so hot and sweaty that I want to burn them in a fire.
So I was very excited to stumble upon Amy Crouse and her Bolder Bands. Crouse is a cross fitter and a runner and was experiencing the same frustration as I was when it came to keeping her hair tamed mid-workout. So, she invented the Bolder Band.
The bands are made from a spandex/lycra blend, which feels very much like bathing suit material. It’s crazy absorbent and super elasticky. They come in tons and tons of colours and patterns.
I’m a big fan of the super plain black ones and the disco-inspired gold lame for when I’m feeling cheeky. But my favourite part is that it can be worn folded really thin or opened completely and worn super wide. (Not a good look for me. But I know plenty of girls who can pull that off.)
I know looking hot isn’t the key to a good workout. But being comfortable is, for me anyway. And if looking good can happen as well, then, hey, all the better. All I know is that these bands did the trick for me.
They stayed up. My hair stayed back. And I was able to focus on working out instead of getting worked up about hair in my face, sweat in my eyes, and looking a mess.
