Sarah Silverman’s back—and she’s gayer than ever.
Okay, she’s not really gay. Too bad, because what comedy-loving, sarcastic dyke isn’t crushing on her? But The Sarah Silverman Program is back for a third season. And it was rescued from programming purgatory by none other than the LGBT network, Logo. That’s right, the gays saved Silverman.
So why do we gays love her so much? “One of my [gay] friends said that he thinks it’s because…their kind of comedy is more sophisticated but like more pediatric too…sophisticated and childish,” says Silverman. Sounds about right to us.
Beyond the program’s new queer home and Silverman’s returning gaybors Brian (Brian Posehn) and Steve (Steve Agee), the show itself is a lot gayer. And funnier. The first episode, titled “The Proof is in the Penis,” which aired Feb 4, featured a moustachioed Silverman singing about the “Baby Penis in [Her] Mind” and lamenting the loss of her boy parts.
And lesbian comedian Tig Notaro, who Silverman went gay for in season one, is back again with all of her hot dyke cop swagger and uniform. Plus, there’s the usual array of pee, poo and generally cringetastic jokes from Silverman every Tuesday on Logo at 10:30 p.m. (9:30 p.m. Central) and Thursdays at the same time on Comedy Central.
In the meantime enjoy the music video for “Baby Penis in My Mind.” Try to watch it without getting the song stuck in your head. We dare you.
