A queer, feminist celebration of survival with glitter and bite!
KillJoy is a sparkly celebration of women, identity, strength and defiance. This show explores complex issues and personal experiences through circus, dance, music, and burlesque through a heartfelt and humorous lens. KillJoy invites you in to witness the secret stories of survival many women only share with each other.
The creators and cast of KillJoy are Cat Scobie (Scurvy & The Dogs, The Wetlands Studios, Caravan of Dooom), Amy Broomstick (Bam Bam, Grrl Fest, The Syndicate) and plucked straight from a neuroscience lab, introducing punk scientist & performer Mahla Bird. Developed with invaluable directorial assistance from Maude Davey. The stellar live band for KillJoy is made up of Jade Stevens (Erin Will Be Mad), Rin McArdle (RIN, Adelaide) and Zak Pidd (Dog Child, DJ Lovely Clear Water).
KillJoy is grateful for the support provided by the Women’s Circus Still I Rise Program.
“The KillJoy show at this year’s Fringe was gobsmackingly fantastic! The KillJoys are aesthetic agitators, constantly confronting with powerful and imaginative self-awareness… a ground-breaking circus show that will leave you craving for more.” – Flora Georgiou, The Melbourne Critique
