Following six years of success of the ELLA International Festival in Mallorca, and over twelve years of experience as a leading provider for lesbian tourism, ELLA will launch an initiative to promote awareness-raising and community efforts for lesbian, bisexual and transgender women.
The idea behind ELLA International Festival was born from the realisation that there were no existing tourism and leisure providers that specialised in lesbian, bisexual and transgender markets.
From the beginning, ELLA has dedicated herself to being a social enterprise by giving visibility and support to lesbian, bisexual and transgender women who have their own requirements and needs that are not yet well recognized.
This year, ELLA will launch an initiative in Costa Rica to celebrate and promote the empowerment of lesbian, bisexual and transgender women and raise awareness on their identity, challenges, and aspirations.
The initiative will include various social and charitable activities with the aim of empowering this community in the long term in Costa Rica. In addition, ELLA will host an ELLA International Festival in Costa Rica which will take place from 8 – 22 May across the country and feature tourist activities and excursions, as well as social activities to raise funds and promote engagement with the local community projects and women’s initiatives. The Festival will be inaugurated by the first ELLA Talks Costa Rica – Inspiring International Lesbian Conference in San José, Costa Rica on 8 May 2019.
“ELLA is much more than just an entertainment Festival, we work on a daily basis on social impact through collaborating in projects for gender equality, women empowerment and diversity.” Kristin Hansen, CEO & Founder, ELLA
The ELLA International Festival is a celebration of this community – where lesbian, bisexual and transgender women can meet in a fun and safe environment. At the ELLA International Festival in Mallorca last year, more than 1500 women attended from many countries around the world, including France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States and Latin America.
The 6th summer edition of the ELLA International Festival in Mallorca will take place from August 30th – September 6th 2018.
The Festival program will feature various activities and events across various locations in Mallorca exclusively for lesbian, bisexual and transgender women. Daytime activities will include excursions and yoga, volleyball, and other group activities on the ELLA Beach.
By night, ELLA will host beautiful dinners and night-time entertainment to a selection of over 15 international artists and DJs from Australia, Scandinavia, Germany and the United Kingdom, and many more.
Last year, Claudia Pannone (Gotan Project) was one of several renowned artists who performed at the ELLA International Festival.
