In response to the government’s plebiscite, national rallies for Marriage Equality have been called under the demand: ‘WE WON’T WAIT! MARRIAGE EQUALITY NOW’.
In Sydney, Community Action Against Homophobia (CAAH) initiated the call for national rallies and is now working alongside Equal Love to spread the word.
The rallies will coincide around the time the Australian Labor Party will state whether or not it will oppose the plebiscite enabling the bill. There are two bills ready to go in the lower house and every opinion poll for the past nine years has shown a clear majority of the population in favour of equal marriage rights.
It is time to put pressure on the politicians to catch up with the rest of Australia and make the right to equality the law.
CAAH will be holding the Sydney Marriage Equality rally on October 8 at 1pm at Sydney Town Hall.
Rallies are also set for Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, and Canberra.
