Australia’s premier creative writing event for the LGBTQI community.
The annual OutStanding Short Story competition is here. Launched on Sunday June 19 at the Diva Bar in Sydney, Alex Greenwich announced the theme for this year, Open.
This writing competition provides a safe and supportive environment for both emerging and established writers to share their stories. The competition also increases the visibility of LGBTIQ writers in wider literary circles while more broadly enabling LGBTIQ people to take our rightful place in the wider society.
Other than a set length of 750 words and the theme, there are no restrictions. Entries might express the triumph and joy of alternate sexuality or the pain and difficulty. They might be funny or sad, sweet or bitter, outrageous or introspective.
All judges are well known in queer literary circles and take their duties very seriously, looking for outstanding sparks of creative brilliance.
Closing date for entries is midnight on 1 September.
