LADY LIBERTY, a coming out, coming-of-age comedy-drama starring Julia Lindon (Detroiters), Jason Sudeikis (Ted Lasso, SNL, Horrible Bosses), Rebecca Henderson (Russian Doll, Appropriate Behavior), Yoni Lotan (Russian Doll, The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon), Karen Eilbacher (Fun Home), and Chris Burns (Difficult People).
This film follows Shea Miller, a 20-something aspiring comedian/current assistant to a way more famous comedian, as she learns to claim her queerness and redefine herself. Shea is caught between conflicting identities: the nice Jewish girl her friends and family have always known, the up-and-coming comic she wants her boss to see, and the confident queer gal she desperately wants to become.
Hot off a successful festival run, the film premiered at Tribeca Film Festival then went on to win top awards at the Women in Comedy Festival, LA Comedy Festival, Williamsburg FilmFest and the Bentonville Film Festival. Inspired by the real-life events of Lindon, who writes and stars, LADY LIBERTY explores identity, vulnerability, ambition, passion, fear, shame, community, and belonging with humor, heart, and a healthy dose of humiliation. The film is directed by Taylor Lee Nagel.
