The inaugural AFL Women’s Pride Game was played at Whitten Oval in 2018.
Both the Western Bulldogs and Carlton women’s teams will be wearing special pride jerseys for the game.
The Pride Game is an initiative by the Western Bulldogs, aiming to promote inclusiveness and diversity and celebrate the prowess of female athletes.
There has been some criticism surrounding Carlton’s participation due to their failure to support the Yes vote, however, inclusion is a positive step forward for skipper Brianna Davey, who is openly gay. The game will be extra special, sharing the field with her partner Tilly Lucas-Rodd, Carlton midfielder.
The event featured pre-event activities for fans, including the big reveal of the Pride Jersey, and was covered live by radio station JOY 94.9 FM.
