Mona & Vanessa’s Puerto Vallarta wedding.

Mona Williams, 31 and Vanessa Kirby, 34, met on OkCupid.com and talked for a month before meeting in person. The busy ladies finally met in the flesh when Mona flew out to see Vanessa, who was attending law school in Wisconsin.

Mona, who hails from Memphis, TN, and Vanessa, whose hometown is Steubenville, OH, currently call Philadelphia home. But it was a more exotic location they chose for their nuptials—Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, for a ceremony on the beach on June 1, 2013. Their wedding reception was held at outdoor hilltop venue Terra Noble.

Their wedding planner was Robin Manoogian of Vallarta Vows and their celebrant was Tahir Golden. As for the vows themselves, the couple was too nervous to write their own. Decked out in a bridal gown found in a Brooklyn boutique and a smart dress from J.Crew, the pair exchanged rings: a radiant-cut diamond for Mona and a cushion-cut blue sapphire for Vanessa.
