Marriage equality might not be getting the support from the government that we want to see, but that hasn’t stopped people from all over the country from joining and starting movements to support equal marriage.

Jake Holmes, a screen-printer and artist from Adelaide has launched a crowdfunded campaign to raise awareness about the importance of marriage equality. Holmes has teamed up with fellow Adelaide artist Peter Drew to create banners with a simple message, “C’mon Aussie C’mon.” The words are printed in rainbow lettering.

Inspired by his mother, Holmes wants his project to encourage people to engage in conversations rather than confrontations about same-sex marriage. In response to arguments by some saying, marriage is a religious right, Mr Holmes said that “As an atheist, I would be able to get married, and that is non-religious, so I feel that that argument falls down a little when you look at it.”

Holmes and Drew do not want to make money from this project. Instead, the money that is being raised goes towards materials and postage needed to print the banners and give them out for free. Any extra funds left over will be donated to Australian Marriage Equality.
