The premiere LGBTIQ fundraising event The Aurora Ball is writing it’s next chapter!
From its humble beginnings at Paddington Town Hall some 17 years ago, the Annual Aurora Ball fundraising event has gone from strength to strength – and now it’s time to write its next chapter. This year’s gala evening will be hosted in the Grand Ballroom of the newly built Sydney International Convention Centre
“We’re taking up residence in a brand new home – a modern and chic venue offering spectacular 270-degree views of the sparkling Sydney skyline, the very best in event technology and state-of-the-art facilities, and a superior entertainment experience,” Aurora chairperson Alison King said. “Our Aurora Ball guests will feel like they’re on top of the world, and with our highly anticipated to-be-announced theme, it’s going to be a night they won’t forget.”
It’s not the first time the premiere LGBTIQ soiree has had to move on to bigger and better spaces. Last year’s record-breaking ticket sell-out in just two weeks highlights how hotly in demand the Aurora Ball is, Ms King said. “Put simply, we’ve outgrown Town Hall,” she said. “We are committed to making it possible for as many of our generous community supporters to come along and experience the magic of an Aurora Ball as possible. At our new home, we can add a limited number of much-needed tables.”
In addition, the International Convention Centre is also more affordable. That element, coupled with capacity for extra tickets, means Aurora Group is in a position to raise even more funds, she said. “We’re excited to help as many important LGBTIQ community organisations as we can through funds raised at our Aurora Ball. That this fantastic event continues to grow is so wonderful.”
